Legend

The legend is telling that on this stony hill, was living a poor peasant named Bertrando, struggling to survive in that arid region. Eventually after so many efforts, he succeeded to obtain a white and sourish wine, not really palatable, that could be sold for a little money, but nevertheless he was thankful to God for it. In a fall day, Bertrando when climbing up the hill to control if the time for harvesting grapes was right, he found a wounded crow.
The peasant moved into pity, forgot about the grapes, and lovingly took care of the bird until he totally recovered.
When the bird was able to fly again, he started to fly about above the vineyards of his benefactor skimming over the bunch of grapes, at the point the white and dried grapes, became absolutely sweet, black and turgid.
Starting from this moment the grapes were called “ Corvina “ and they are the main vine for the Valpolicella production.
